Cancer had already left its mark on my family long before Port Patch existed. My grandma faced it, and years later, when I was 15, my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Going through chemo, she quickly saw that the port itself brought its own quiet battles. Simple things became agonizing: seatbelts hurt, and even getting dressed felt like a daily struggle. We tried everything like lidocaine creams and plastic wrap but nothing truly eased the constant pain and irritation of her port.
Then, out of necessity and determination, she made something better. My mom and stepdad designed the very first Port Patch.
It brought her real relief. Enough for her to live around treatment, not just endure it.
What began as a deeply personal journey has blossomed into a shared mission. Port Patch is for every patient because they deserves more comfort, more control, and the ability to live their lives more fully, even in the face of a diagnosis.
